In 2002, we fell in love with Alaska and purchased property near Fairbanks. Our Alaska log home was built in 2003 by Bill Kisken of Log Weavers here in Fairbanks. Bill is an artist, who uses the hand scribed Swedish cope system. Notice how tightly the logs fit at the ends, this is very diffucult to achieve. We retired in 2013, and moved our residence to Alaska.

Off to the Birkie!!

Cathy and I leave today for the American Birkebeiner in Hayward, Wisconsin. This is the largest ski marathon in North America with 9,000 skiers. I'll be doing the classic style American Birkebeiner, which is 53-kilometers in length. The race will be on Saturday, Feb. 23. I'll be posting daily pictures of the area and of the race events. This will be my third American Birkebeiner.
