In 2002, we fell in love with Alaska and purchased property near Fairbanks. Our Alaska log home was built in 2003 by Bill Kisken of Log Weavers here in Fairbanks. Bill is an artist, who uses the hand scribed Swedish cope system. Notice how tightly the logs fit at the ends, this is very diffucult to achieve. We retired in 2013, and moved our residence to Alaska.

Course tour of the NYC marathon

Today I'm going into the city to pick up my number and registration materials for the new York City Marathon.  This will be my 26th marathon since 1978, when I ran the Omaha marathon while a student at Creighton Law School.  I've run New York five times, so I know the course well.  It is one of the more difficult marathons for me to run, because of the crowds.  I find the bridges to be a real challenge as well.  I've never finished with a particularly good time, but it's still a fun experience.  Here's a good description of the course:
