This is actually a re-blog from the SP Kennel Dog Blog It's the story of Happy the sled dog. A few years ago when Aliy Zirkle was passing through a Native village during a severe winter storm, she came across a puppy that was jumping happily up and down, while all of the other dogs were buried in avoid the weather. She decided to purchase the puppy from the owner, who gladly gave the puppy up for $50. Happy doesn't look like a sled dog and has a number of odd quirks to say the least. When Allen got ready to select the B team to run the Iditarod with him, he made the unlikely choice of Happy as one of the dogs. You can read the full story of Happy on their blog. Well Happy did finish the 1,000 mile Iditarod and became famous. Happy even has a web page. Photo below is from the SP Kennel Dog Blog.
