In 2002, we fell in love with Alaska and purchased property near Fairbanks. Our Alaska log home was built in 2003 by Bill Kisken of Log Weavers here in Fairbanks. Bill is an artist, who uses the hand scribed Swedish cope system. Notice how tightly the logs fit at the ends, this is very diffucult to achieve. We retired in 2013, and moved our residence to Alaska.

Robin's Library

One of the most interesting people I have ever met is our neighbor in Alaska, Robin Plzak. Robin is knowledgeable about a huge variety of things and is a prolific reader. In fact, when Ft. Wainright closed its library a few years ago, Robin bid on the books. He brought a truckload and a trailer full of books up to his place and set up a library, conveniently classified according to Dewey. Much of my summer reading is from the Plzak Library.

Robin reads a book a day during the long Fairbanks winters and he never fails to come up with good reading suggestions when we arrive.

Here is Cathy with our favorite dog Lyrick, Robin's constant companion.
