In 2002, we fell in love with Alaska and purchased property near Fairbanks. Our Alaska log home was built in 2003 by Bill Kisken of Log Weavers here in Fairbanks. Bill is an artist, who uses the hand scribed Swedish cope system. Notice how tightly the logs fit at the ends, this is very diffucult to achieve. We retired in 2013, and moved our residence to Alaska.

Trail Running in Alaska

Every year Cathy and I find something more that we like about Alaska. For me, this year's discovery has been the Fairbanks Running Club North. Since I've joined this group, they have introduced me to a whole new level of running on the trails and mountains around Fairbanks. This weekend I ran the Angel Rocks to Chena Hot Springs 8 mile run. What a goat path it was! I finally finished in 2:32, and to my surprise I wasn't last. Last week, was the 16 mile Gold Discovery Run, and next week is the 16 mile Granite Tors Run. You can train for a Fall marathon just doing these weekend group runs with a few workouts during the week.
