In 2002, we fell in love with Alaska and purchased property near Fairbanks. Our Alaska log home was built in 2003 by Bill Kisken of Log Weavers here in Fairbanks. Bill is an artist, who uses the hand scribed Swedish cope system. Notice how tightly the logs fit at the ends, this is very diffucult to achieve. We retired in 2013, and moved our residence to Alaska.

Fire at Rondvassbu Sjølvbetjeningshytta

One of our favorite self service DNT huts in Norway caught fire on the evening of January 23. Rondvassbu is in the heart of the Rondane National Park in Norway. The self service hut is open through the winter for hut to hut ski tours. It has no electricity and no running water. British soldiers, who were in the area, worked through the night to bring the fire under control using snow shovels, but not before it spread to the main building. slideshow of fire

We skied hut to the hut there in 2002. We stayed overnight and loved the place.
